First off you shouldn't be idling the X for 10 minutes or more. How long are your trips? If they are less then 30 minutes you need to plan a long trip now and then. One of the by product of the combustion process is water. If the muffler doesn't get hot enough to burn off all that water it remains in the muffler until the muffler get hot and the water turns to steam. Go for a long drive and see if the white smoke returns after you let it idle.

I did go for a long trip for about an hour, came back and let the car sit for 5-10 mins with the ignition on. I gave it gas and white/blue smoke came out of the exhaust. Burned oil?? Can it be leaky valve stems?

Also has anyone has a sqeaky steering wheel??

I've read about some steering knuckle starting to squeak and bind. some folks have had luck just lubricating it, while others had to change it out to solve the problem.

First result in my search:

Could be leaky valve stem seal or guides or it could also be a rupture PVC membrane at the rear of the engine. What type of maintenance have you done for the X so far? There are plenty of threads on this forum about blue smoke from the X after idling.

Check out your motor and hydraulics oil first. That may be the reason for these noises as for the smoke it can be more complicated, yes.

for the smoke after idle = dont idle for more than 5 mins, this is a built in engine issue, that has been heavily discussed, also dependant on your oil change intervals and what kind of oil you use, bmw - 04LL is the minimum

what kind of squeak? when turning or whatnot, need more info

ticking from engine bay, check your spark plugs and exhaust manifold and intake manifold seals

Can you tell by smell if it is oil smoke or coolant? Are you losing coolant or using oil? Does the ticking increase and decrease with engine rpms?

Let's get to the nitty gritty on this one... what weight oil are you running?
