Final State Resistor/Unit
Just want to make sure I've got this right.
My blower intermittently stops working. With summer coming this will suck in a black car, so I'm thinking it's probably the FSU/FSR. It this it? #3 in :rolleyes:this |
Yup. I got a OEM one off amazon for $50 shipped FYI. Then if for whatever reason it turns out to not be the issue you can easily return it without paying shipping.

Thanks, guys. Will try that test, if I can get the blower running again. Hoping it's not the blower.

I'd buy a few used (but BMW Genuine) FSRs on ebay.
I bought qty =2, about $15/each. Keep an extra FSR on glovebox as spare. No need to buy new (which is $100 or so). Stay away from aftermarket for now. |
FSR , grabbed one from a wrecker for $10, bonus was I got to "practice" taking one out!! Plus they offered a 'parking lot ' guarantee on the part! :)
They're a bit tricky to access, but there's a few YouTube vids and some tutorials on how to do it! |
If you go to junk yard, make note that this FSR fits many years models etc. (E39, E46 etc.), so you can pull an FSR from let's say E39 and it will E53 perfectly.
