Great way to start the day - looking at these pics and videos

Ricky Bobby 05-27-2015 09:30 AM

Great pictures Pat, as always. I will give you a compliment to say that you do blur the line almost completely between overly modded and an OEM+ look, most will overdo it, but not in your case. Your X looks perfect as is at this point IMO.

That Estoril though :)

electricalserv x5 05-27-2015 09:53 PM

Looks Geat Pat , thanks for adding me to the pics...............

Silver X iS 05-28-2015 10:06 PM

Very nicely and tastefully done
One question, did the rims fit the same as stock before adding the spacers? Or did you have to add the spacers to the rear to achieve the stock look?

X5only 05-28-2015 10:31 PM

This X5 looks like a "model". What spacers size is she wearing? :D

Pierce330 05-29-2015 08:10 AM

The X looks bad-ass...awesome

Clockwork 05-29-2015 02:05 PM

I assume you used software to lower the vehicle? I'm looking to raise my rear airbags just a weeee bit. Is it done in INPA or what other software?

Ricky Bobby 05-29-2015 02:12 PM

Its done in INPA or my personal favorite to properly do it is DIS

Clockwork 05-29-2015 02:37 PM

RB, i was just reading of your talks about this on another thread full of goodies. many thanks

Could you post a link to the aforementioned thread? Thanks!

OnTouring 05-29-2015 05:47 PM

PN for your front LeMans Flares? I've scanned the threads on here countless times and my realoem research says I should have them on my 4.8is from factory - obviousy not the case. Enlighten us on those beauties!

4.8isX5 05-29-2015 08:20 PM

I believe they arent sold anywhere here in the states anymore, alot more of them came with front flares in europe, but stateside wise and even ebay i think your SOL. I got these from a buddy who got them years ago from ecstuning as a package but they dont sell this kit anymore.

X5only 05-29-2015 09:28 PM

Oh well, if we all had flares front and rear, some of us would be asking flares delete DIY.:D Just kidding.

WRONG. Order from dealer.

The complete "LeMans retrofit kit" is NLA which included all 4 arches, flares etc, but the front flares are readily available as are the rear flared arches, etc. Read this thread for all part numbers and differences if you have running boards.

http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...explained.html

4.6/4.8 – Front Flares ONLY (NO Running Boards).

Part Number ------ Description ------------------------- QTY
51 71 7 002 953 -- BLIND RIVET ------------------------- 14
51 71 7 049 867 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, FRONT LEFT ------- 1
51 71 7 049 868 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, FRONT RIGHT ------ 1

4.8isX5 05-30-2015 03:30 PM

Hmm^ wasnt aware that dealer had them. Has anyone actually checked to confirm or successfully ordered a set though? I remember making a few calls a long time ago here and there and ecstuning also and no one had'em.

mam4.6 05-30-2015 04:10 PM

Ordering a pair first of the week. Will update...

These definitely look flared in the realoem diagrams. Somehow though it appears these PNs are also listed as the only (standard) front flares on the 4.8is? Mine has the un-flared versions? What gives?:dunno:

RealOEM.com - Online BMW Parts Catalog

Was there a special aero package available form the dealer that included the flared fronts?

I ordered and received rear flares a few weeks back (apart from the rear arches) without issue. Maybe somebody else here has recently gone for the arches?

Did you order the fronts, rears, or both?

Was there a special aero package available form the dealer that included the flared fronts? The part #'s are accurate for the flared fronts, unfortunately I don't know why it shows as standard on 4.8iS.

As I mentioned the only kit NLA from BMW is the complete front/rear LeMans retrofit kit, but it is available separately by part numbers. There was a part # for the entire kit but its no longer sold.

Did you order the fronts, rears, or both?

See above

Thanks for that. I will continue my search and order up what I find.

4.8isX5, I will continue to oogle at your X. Beautiful!

525iT_Feen 06-01-2015 12:46 PM

You can order fronts from the dealer. I checked availability a few months ago when I quoted out RB's. Still a nice and rare mod nonetheless because few people know about them.

NatGomes 06-04-2015 09:00 PM

I ordered the fronts. If I am thinking correctly, all IS's come factory with rear flares. Supposed to arrive tomorrow, will update with pics in a separate thread...

Ricky Bobby 06-05-2015 09:43 AM

^You are right, all iS models come with flared REARS only

ArtMan 06-05-2015 10:02 AM

Nice ride always loved the IS look. quick question, i noticed you had your windshield replaced by safelight? have you used your rainsensor yet? Before their replaced mine even with the giant cracked windshield i had no problems, Afterward I have no automatic lights nor do i have the rainsensor and they ordered a new sensor but i noticed the sensor mount has bubbles in the glue now and even with the new sensor it does not initialize .....frustrating :(

What brand size and width wheel are you running on your e53 4.8is X5? Looks really good.

4.8isX5, aside from the LeMans front flares on your ride, what exhaust system do you have on your vehicle? The twin tips look great. Let me know the brand of exhaust you are running.

Mine came fully flared....all around. It was bought in Dubai though so maybe the standard/basic setup there includes more stuff....
