E53 4.6is Rear Wheel Drive Conversion
This question goes out to the transmission gurus, I have managed to blow out my front diff again and am not planning on replacing it when I live in Houston Texas and never need the awd. My question is that my transmission was used in jags and range rovers which were rwd, when I pull out the transfer case, will the output plate from the jag bolt directly up to my tranny. I have been looking for diagrams and figured this would be the next best place to look.

I would also look into an E39 transmission
|
Yeah, get an e39 trans. Or just disconnect the front driveshaft and remove the cv shafts. You will need to keep the output flanges on the drive shafts in the knuckles with the axle nut or you will destroy the wheel bearings within a few miles.

I thought the pre facelift cars can't move without the front driveshaft
|
How pissed off would the ECU be doing this? I assume the dash would look like a christmas tree?

My front driveshaft is disconnected. Everything works just fine. The pre facelift models used a mechanical single ratio transfer case, so the car wont know that its operating as a rwd car.

Which Tcase do you have? All the reports I have read of those with the NV125 are dead in the water when the splines strip.
|
Ive got an nv125. The tcase will still spin the driveshaft, but that doesnt turn the front wheels.
This is not the same as stripped splines, since the tcase is still functioning as it should. |
I unluckly have the lwa500 i belive, so no way to disable the transfer case
