Proud new owner of a 4.8

Makes me giddy every time I get behind the wheel. Long history of BMW's and this one is by far my favorite!

Welcome! Very nice 4.8! Love the running boards...how many miles?

blackbeast 08-01-2015 10:51 AM

Thank you!

90K miles, all locally owned and driven

Bought it from a dealer, but the previous owner was most certainly an enthusiast. He/she installed the black grills, AC Schnitzer pedals, hidden and wired Passport radar detector and a high quality (hidden) after market sound system.

Only thing I've done is install the new BMW cross racks on the roof and changed out the plugs with NGK's.

Car was definitely maintained, it runs and drives like new. The steering and suspension is unbelievably tight.

Only issue so far is hard starts when the car is hot. No codes. I'm leaning (no pun) to it being the fuel filter which i'm going to swap out today.

Awesome ride!

Fine azz X!
Helluva steep driveway: not sure my Vette or a couple of my scoots could clear that angle edge, without dragging.

Nice looking iS. I like the running board and the front flares.
I hate the steep driveways when I was living in Seattle.

Was gonna say, throw some 30mm spacers in the back, it'll look better;)

Ven 08-01-2015 12:48 PM

Nice catch. Welcome.

blackbeast 08-01-2015 12:58 PM

Thanks fellas! I used to be big in the BMW game back in my younger days (turning 26 this month) started out on E36's, then had an E39, and a couple E38's as well. I strayed for a bit (must have had a glitch in the brain or something) and had a few Caddys, but it feels so good to be back!

I think the car looks just about perfect from the factory but that is definitely one of the few items on the to do list. What about spacers for the front?

Also, anyone local by chance (Portland, Oregon area) that would be willing to swap the black grills for OEM facelift grills and/or recommend a good local indy shop?

Good call on the use of the NGK plugs

Welcome!! Real good-lookin' X...

Looks great, would hate having such a steep driveway though,

It also looks lowered, or did you take the pics with car in access mode?

Since you have front flares, do 25mm front and 30mm rear spacers... You'll never go back to seeing the car without and gives it the beefy look it should have, without them it looks too much like a box on stilts even though the wheels are wide IMO.

nice enjoy looks like my cars brother

StephenVA 08-02-2015 08:14 AM

Nice find. "Goat like trail" drive way. Good news, it keeps the garage dry!

blackbeast 08-02-2015 01:31 PM

Thanks guys, glad to be part of this amazing group

I'm not the biggest fan of the driveway either, sometimes it's a huge PITA like taking the kid out of car becomes a circus act sometimes and even makes the task of washing the car a hazard because with that incline I've had a few close calls if I step on the slippery hose haha, but oh well, 1st world problems haha.

You got me excited for the spacers! I had them on almost all of my modded E36's so I know first hand how much of a difference they make for the overall look, they seem to tie everything together.

The car was indeed in access mode for the pics :D

great looking X5; love the running boards

525iT_Feen 08-03-2015 09:03 AM

Second person I saw score a 4.8 with front flares in the last month. That and RB's make this an even nicer pick up. Congrats on the purchase.

cragglemiester 08-03-2015 09:31 AM

That looks absolutely stunning. Many additions id like to make to my x.
I have work to do hahaha.

SASM5 08-03-2015 12:15 PM

Welcome! Glad to see another PNW 4.8is. Amazing cars, I admired them for many years before snatching one up! Love the roof rack.

biggeek 08-03-2015 06:08 PM

Always bet on black!

Nice looking car...it's Le mans Noir ;) like mine.

So I take it 4.8is dont come with the flares and boards as standard in the states?
