Oil - the never ending story
Hello guys,
long time no speech - which means nothing broke ...... only 4 brake discs, 3 hinges (Traggelenk?) and both back shocks ;) Now something where I really have no idea. When driving in the mountains - oil somehow hot and engine in idle the oil pressure light is sometimes flashing. Because of that I had oil pressure measured - it was on 1,2bar in idle, seems to be OK. Nevertheless I had the oil pressure sensor changed. But the problem is still here - oil hot and idle -> oil pressure light is flashing and to be honest I really do not like that. The only thing that comes into my mind: All former oil changes were done by a BMW garage and they used 0W40 LL04 oil. The indy who did the last oil change used eni i-sint 5w30 which is also LL04 certified. I have read several oil threads here but did not find an answer for the question: can this be the culprit? Thank for thinking about my problem. Helmuth |

Sorry ,only just saw your post! Its part number #15,which replaced the old paper/sponge filterfrom Jan 2005, which blocked ! The new one is a vortex type which doesnt block but does let more oil through to inlet! RealOEM.com - Online BMW Parts Catalog |
