P0014 Horror.. Help!

When I start my car it gives a rough idle with error code p0014. I've changed the vanos seals, I've even swapped out the exhaust solenoid , I'm running out of options on what this code may be. BMW in my area don't know why the code didn't go away yet. If anyone had success on p0014 please reply.

Is your ICV clogged? Have you reset the throttle body adaptations recently?

I just changed the CPS, Same issue after 3 start ups.. rough idle at start up.

Have you had the codes cleared after trying something? Like replacing the CPS. Should still run okay without doing so but I have seen on M54's a rough running engine until codes being cleared after a repair. Most recently my brother in law's 01 330ci.

Sounds like you need a more detailed reader to be used... like INPA/DIS/Autologic that can pinpoint which sensor or part is causing the problem.

Did you follow the beisan systems instructions to reinstall the vanos? Can be pretty tricky and is easy to get a hair off...

Yes I did follow the steps , where can I get my hands on one of those softwares/:.. I cleared it and it came right back like a trampoline after 3 start ups..

There is an ebay seller from Romania that has the software you need. I've been meaning to order it as well. The seller has been vetted already as that is where most of the guys on the board get INPA/DIS I believe. Hopefully one of them can chime in on the specifics of it.

The guy from Romania is selling free software. You can buy the cables for 25 bucks, and download the software for free!

If you guys are interested I can post up some links.

Did you have this issue before you started changing stuff like the Vanos Seal or did you have this issue after you started changing parts.

If you having this issue after your repairs, it is something you probably did. Go back and re-check your work. Follow any procedure that is outlined for the parts replacement. Don't assume that you can just take out a part and put back in a part.

If you were having this issue before replacing parts, you need to do a little bit of more diagnostic. A DTC will point you to a problem the computer is seeing, it does not identify a parts to be replaced.

In your case, the cause of a P0014 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:

Incorrect camshaft timing
Wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control valve control solenoid system
Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber
Failed timing valve control solenoid (stuck open)
