DIY fix for occupancy seat sensor?
looking for a temp. fix for the passenger seat sensor. I thought I read a thread before about a quick fix but I can't seem to find it.
|
The sensor mat is replaceable. About $100 part. Some years were recalled (but it didn't go all the way back to 2001 for mine...).
Here's one write up. Some people rig up a bypass, but that is not my way. Want it working as it was designed... http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...srs-light.html |
It's called a brick. Ha!
|
I bought one of these for my x5, it just makes the car think someone is always sitting there when I check with INPA.
|
just got mine fixed at dealers for free.. make sure yours falls into the production affected
|
mine is eligible for the recall but they never seem to have it in stock or time to do it
|
How do we know which ones are eligible for the recall?
|
I found a fix online and it only cost me $3 to make but I can find the seat sensor plug that I'm supposed to cut and splice into

|
tried today looking for the sensor and the plug im supposed to cut and I can't find it.... is it in the seat itself? all pics and videos on YouTube says it should be right under the seat
I have pictures but it's too large to upload |

anybody?

I had mine "Fixed" a few months ago by the dealer under the recall.
However, last night was the first time I had a passenger in the seat and noticed that now the "system off" warning light is coming on when someone (large adult) IS in the seat. Car goes back to dealer next week. |
Mine was also 'fixed' by the dealer under the recall.
light is off now - BUT it might be too sensitive because it dings all the time now thinking that someone is sitting there without their seatbelt. I have to strap in my imaginary person to stop the ding ding... very annoying! Need to go back for them to look at it.. but no time... |
mine is a candidate for the fix but they never seem to have the parts in stock so that's why i was going with the DIY route but i cant find the sensor that im supposed to tap into
