The problem that needs to be corrected is a re-alignment of the DME and EWS communication. That't what I hope to do next and if that fails, I will go the 2nd key route. |
Perhaps the EWS module is bad, that is why the DME can't communicate with it. When you guys scanned the X, did you scan the individual modules? I know that with BMW Scanner 1.4 you can scan the individual modules. I believe Carsoft 6.5 also allows you to scan individual modules.

I will retest them again before syncing to make sure. Thanks! |
Heya X5Ghost,
Sorry I completely missed that you had updated here and I was wondering about the latest progress! Yes, confirmed we did scan all modules in the car (via Gt1) and the only persistent errors that remained after clearing the list of way old stored codes were 1: DSC : 5EB1 DSC Steering angle sensor supply 2: 27A4: EWS 3.3 interface engine management immobilizer - no EWS telegram All else looked clean and clear. I agree the idea of trying to: EWS to sync to DME Was just reading through that pdf you posted here and will plugin to see if I can find those options in software. Also been seeing that some strange things happens on low battery voltage with these cars so we may want to plugin in a 2nd battery or ultra clean power charger during sync. Will ping you back or post here with what I see. J |
Found this on Youtube. Poster had the same problem. If you read the comments, the solution was a New Key.

Hmmm... a new key you say? ;)

Agreed a new key would be a good thing too since that starts a lot of the sync processes over and it is always also a great idea.
I do have my doubts given that it did read the key on INPA however I hope that my skill (or lack there of in software here) is obvious. Ghost, I did just look in Programan SSS v32 that I have found it not to exactly follow those directions you posted. Bonus: I did finally turn off my day time running lights! From link above Using Progman to synchronize the DME to the car: 1. Follow steps 1 -4 of the previous procedure. 2. Open the Progman application. 3. Choose your car and chassis. 4. Wait a few minutes for the Progman to collect the ZCS values. 5. When it asks for retrots select NO. 6. Select EWS Calibration 7. Click YES to start the calibration 8. Turn the car’s key to the OFF position and click continue 9. Wait 25 se conds. 10. Turn the car’s key to the ON position and click continue 11. Click Finish 12. Start the car on Programan SSS v32 Step 5 does come up and there is no direct option to select step 6 EWS however I did find something called "EWS Adjustment" Vehicle Attachment 67771 Then Initializations Attachment 67772 Then Carry out EWS Adjustment Attachment 67773 Also not related to EWS I found Steering Angle Calibration under Vehicle -> Service Functions -> LWS Attachment 67774 |

I just took another look in GT1 and found the steps to sync EWS and DME. It's buried under service functions.
Here were the steps I found it at, there might be a shorter way Connect GT1 Attachment 67775 Do usual quick scan Attachment 67776 Control Unit Functions button on bottom right Function Selections button on bottom left Choose Service > Drive > Electric Car Immobilizer DME then Test Schedule Button on bottom Attachment 67777 Select DME schedule row on bottom section of screen then click green arrow button on bottom right Attachment 67783 Follow the on screen test schedule Attachment 67778 Attachment 67779 Attachment 67780 Attachment 67781 Attachment 67782 |

Junkycosmos, looks like you found the sync option in the GT1, this is great! I hope this resolves the issue otherwise, next step will be ordering a new key. Thx for all of those who provided Info on all fronts.
Will keep the forum updated so hopefully this helps someone else. Quote:
Feels like Crytalworks is hoping it's a key issue and if it was, probably wants me to eat my shoe  |
