Rear view mirror (exterior)

Hi

Has anynone swapped the external mirrors on their E53 with something like these?

Pair Door Wing Mirror Glass Heated Anti Blind Left Right for BMW x5 E53 99 06 | eBay

Is there any pitfalls I should be aware of with this swap? Quality of the mirror, heating, etc?

Thx for any feedback

You don't give any model/model year/build date info...but it should be an easy swap if you don't have EC (auto dimming) side mirrors.

If your mirrors are only heated...then again, it's an easy swap...but if you have autodimming/folding side mirrors...then this is the wrong mirror glass for your application.

The EC (auto dimming) mirror glass has an extra wiring harness...see pic below:

But the wide angle mirrors are great...and do improve visibility...you can see in the pics below how many lanes I can see across as well as beside and behind the vehicle:

Thx for the great info!! I should of course have mention my car. I got an 2002 E53 3.0i (US imported to Norway, so I got ie both miles and km/h in my cluster). I don't have the foolding mirrors and 99% sure that I have no auto-dimming since it does not dim. However I need to take of my mirrors and see what I have hidden behind.

However I googled a bit and it looks like that folding mirrors and auto-dim was an option presented from 2003 and up?
