Ice link problem
I currently have my car at an audio place and they just plugged my ice link in for instalation. They just called and let me know that it is making a lot of engine noise. They also told me that my radio screen only displays like two words. Does anyone know whats going on so I can call them right back?

You may need a better ground connection to get rid of the noise. I had to sand off the paint around my ground connection in my M5. Never had a noise since.

they just called me and told me that the noise is gone but it will not display text because my radio cannot read text until 04. I don't have DSP. Any advice

Here are the procedures for activating text:
======================================== ID3 Text Activation Procedures ======================================== 1) Select CD #6 on the Radio/NAV screen 2) Scroll to "Setup" on the ipod using the steering wheel controls and select setup menu by pressing on the UP arrow on the steering wheel for +3 seconds. 3) Scroll to "Text Selector" press on the UP arrow on the steering wheel for +3 seconds and and follow the instructions on your radio/navigation screen. 4) Text is now activated! i've not long since followed these instructions and they work. Can you tell I'm chuffed.:) :)

could you explain this a bit more? what exactly did you do? I've got the thicker grounding wires in the newer harness, but I still have a little bit of alternator whine and nothing I do seems to make it go away. |
