Are these sensor haning around in my enginer compartment?
 

Hi Guys,

Bought last week a 2005 X5 4.4. Had already some adventures with it - I am always 'lucky' with choosing the dealer.

I opened the bonnet to figure out why the pump for the windscreen washer is not working (couldn't figure it out). Then I saw two things over the right wheel (standing in front of car) that look like 'sensor' dangling around (wtf???) and also one small tube poking up. Not connected anywhere which might be some kind of ventilation.

Any clues what it is and where they belong would be highly appreciated. Pictures attached.

The top two are NSA servaliance devices. The bottom hose is the vent for the front diff (or maybe the trans).

One is sorted out then :-) But still need more details on the NSA Surveillance devices!

Are these just empty plugs for options my car doesn't have?

I believe so. That looks just like a block-off plug to keep the internals of that socket free of dirt/debris.

I too have same connector on my 2001 and from what I've read it is for the servotronic steering option.

Some X5's come with pre-wiring....For easy retrofit.

Second photo.....I think these are for heated wiper washer.

Third photo.....that's normal......I believe it's your air breather from the N62.
