Headlights shutting off in Auto mode
Started having a strange problem the other day with my headlights. I normally keep them in the Auto setting, so they come on on their own. When I start the car at night or in the morning the lights either do not come on at all for a minute or so, then do, or come on then immediately shut off only to come on a minute later.
Any ideas? |
RLS maybe? Sounds like it from the behavior but Ill let a tech guy respond and confirm or deny.
More I think about it the more it makes sense this started to happen with the change in season and lighting |

Interesting, what sensor exactly are you talking about? As I said my windshield is original.
|
The rain light sensor (rls) is behind the rear view mirror (attached to the windshield with clear silicon). It detects whether the conditions are right for the automatic lights to go on. It also detects the magnitude of rain drops for the automatic windshield wiper setting.

This is the sensor I referred to in my response Brian. The windshield doesnt need to be replaced to cause this sensor to fail it could be just due to time, exposure etc.
Not sure how you test it for sure but the fact that you experienced it as the daylight changed led me to believe its the culprit. jus my .02 |
