Hi Guys,
Just wanted to introduce myself to the community here. I got my X5 about 2 weeks back. Its a 2005 4.4i in Sterling Silver with black leather. Overall its in a good condition but as soon as I left the dealership the gearbox did some hard shifts and even a bang when I was cruising around 70 KM/h. I started to panic over it and complained to the dealer. But weird enough, after driving it for a week the gearbox improved. The first 2 gears are not as smooth as the remaining gears, but its more like a 'you feel its not new' as there is an issue. I am struggling to explain that, but maybe the gearbox was reset into learning mode and it overall helped to address an issue. On the to do list are (already):
My plan is to do something similar with the X5, but instead of a PC I will use a Raspberry Pi. There is already a project that progressed quite far: http://www.bmwraspcontrol.de/ Guess many members now the project already. But the first step is to get the damn screen fixed. Spare screen is on its way from China for $115. I am sure, I will be here quite frequently looking at all the potential issues a 10 year old X5 can ran into :D Greetings from Down Under! Holger |
Welcome and congrats on the new purchase!

Test your washer pumps first. I've actually had all three fail over a 60 day period in the past.

Welcome to Xoutpost, Holger! That really is a beautiful E53 you have, thanks for sharing the pix.
I'm particularly interested to hear about the progress of your RPi project. I would like to get one set up in my E53 as an audio player. I intend to keep the original MID/CD player, using the RPi through the Aux input. Maybe eventually completely integrate the RPi as a replacement head unit. Let us know how your project goes.:thumbup::thumbup: |
Welcome to the family of X5!
