Trans Fail Safe after water pump replacement
I just wrapped up putting the front of my motor back together after an exploratory opening. Had repaired the ABS control and the lights were off before tear down. While doing the work I disconnected the battery. I had shut the hatch mistakenly and needed to use my jump pack on the battery posts in the engine compartment to open it. I started the engine tonight and I have SES and the Trans fail safe lit up as well as my ABS trifecta again. I have not driven it yet, but wanted to check opinions on why doing this simple work would trip the lights. Was it a low voltage scenario from my jump pack? Could driving it resolve it? Your help would be appreciated.

I'd drive it a short distance and see if they reset themselves. I've seen this occur on mine with low voltage situations.

Yep. I've had this same thing happened. Drive it.
If your DSC light is still on after the drive, reset your steering sensor by turning your wheel all the way to the right and pausing for a sec, and then turning all the way to the left (full clock, while stationary). Make sure the battery is properly charged too! |
Heli and others, you were right, it finally did reset and all is good! Thanks for your help. But now it is stuck in a parking lot and won't start…see my new thread about that! Hopefully I will exorcise all these demons and it will be as good as the other BMW's I have had.
