Hi Everyone

First post here, picked this forum as it is a bit more balanced in terms of positive posts - ie I did this to my X5 today (great thread) verses fault fixes.

(Bimmerpost is 100% fault fixing, I know I am going to have to fix things, I just want to read about the good stuff too!)

Here's my new adventure truck, 2003, 3.0 petrol, 115,000km on it, original dealer tow hook, very happy has the black and silver trim in side LCI etc, only two owners - I am calling it a barn find as it is old, but like new in side..

Cheers

Your "barn find" looks to be a keeper. Congrats on your purchase. Welcome to the forums, you'll be in very good company.

Welcome

Welcome aboard Kiwistu. Nice clean looking ride, with low mileage for the year. Should last you many years. Looks like your neighbour across the road has one too - I wonder, did this inspire you or is it just coincidence?
It took me a while too, but I eventually located my E53 with the same interior. The black leather with titanium trim looks awesome and doesn't seem to age the car.
Noted about this forum - a great bunch of members with many positive threads, not just complaints or problems. You'll learn heaps if you read through the FAQ's and How Too's.

Thanks for the nice comments, re the V8 one over the road it was/is for sale, I found it on our version of ebay - trademe, and was surprised to find it was located right next to me!
Higher km's, bit rough, so didn't go ahead. Always strange when you start looking for something - you see a lot more of them.

BTW I read a few posts re people trying to find towhooks, v common in NZ - nearly every SUV has one. Very easy to obtain here..

Cheers

Welcome kiwistu - I'm pretty new here too but we Kiwi's seem to be a growing demographic on this forum! Great looking X5. Is it NZ-new? I though NZ only got the 3.0d diesel models - never seen a 3.0 petrol in NZ (only the 3.0 petrol X3). All the V8 X5s in NZ seem to be JDM models and when looking for an X5 I saw a LOT of JDM imports. Very happy to have found my 3.0d when I did.

Bizarrely it was sold new in NSW Australia and somehow made it's way to Team McMillian BMW sometime in late 2004, where it was subsequently regularly serviced.

I set out to buy a LCI 3.0d - the best engine for the X5, but couldn't find a low km one at all, plus they command , quite rightly very high prices, even for ones with high km's.

Then I moved on to V8's, which I would have bought, but again high km, poor condition ones are every where - then I found this 3.0 one.

It has been great to drive around in, I bought it for outdoor stuff, family etc - and in fact I have been driving it more than my 5 series!

Cheers
