GAS rebuild kit is great I did mine 2 years ago preventatively.

I installed one of the eBay kits in this one if I recall correctly, worked well. At least this issue is really easy to diagnose, and easy to install the kit.

In The unit i had, housing - the big black box on the left, was kind of collapsed so I decided to throw in the whole new unit.
