Replace my Tit. Kidney Grills with aftermaket gloss black kidney grills
Fitment was okay. Looked GREAT though, against the JB paint...

Quality was poop as one of them fell off during driving !

Shop that put them in (in was in the shop for paint), ordered me a set of replacements, but it's got the eyebrows on them.....bleh.

I'm going to see how I feel about in in 2 weeks, but I suspect I'll probably just fleabay another non eyebrow gloss black set and add a little gasket sealer on the new one just to make sure it sticks on doesn't fall off.

Eyebrows just feel weird to me...

Do not like the eyebrows- even on cars that were stock. My buddy has an '06 E90 with them. Blech.

LOL. I've fallen off the wagon on the X5. I'm done spending $ on my OCD versus necessity....
I think I've reached that breaking point where any $ I put is going to be a necessity towards a repair only. My most recent OCD replacement was all the weatherstripping, having the roof/rails repainted and replace 2 of the plastic sill trims just because it was a bit fatigued/dirty.

Between a couple of unexpected repairs this year (sunroof cassette) being the biggest, I'm at the crossroads of trying to NOT spend money on the X...

I dunno. I'll give it 2 weeks and I know I probably won't get over it....and will end up replacing it. I hate it now. I was hoping ya'll will talk me out of spending money ;-/

Need to see pics. I still haven't replaced mine. They look better in person than they do in person but a nice set of gloss black factory style ones would be the best option IMO. Still trying to find someone who makes them.

EDIT: BTW, these grilles need to be modified to fit properly and not fall off. I had to dremel some notches in the plastic "latches" so that they actually lock into place. Otherwise they can slide around or fall off the vehicle as in your case.

I've been looking for a gloss OEM grilles for years and couldn't find anything. I wonder why no one makes it for the facelift, but plenty for the pre-facelift :dunno:

My bodyshop guy refuses to paint me a set of OE grills - no matter how much money I'll throw at him. I must have asked him at least on 4 separate occasions. He says it will chip guaranteed.

The last visit, he said, I know how much you've been jonesing a set, so I put these on for ya. I do like the gloss black color....they compliment the car quite nicely though

It will... ask me how I know... :rolleyes: It's the reason I have on the car what I do now. It's not perfect, but it's way better than chipped up OEM ones.

I have also been looking for over a year now... and nothing. This new version is the first gloss black grill I've seen. Not sure why they designed it the way they did though. There is another version available in the UK now that has slanted slats... I'm not sure whether that looks better or worse than this version. :dunno:

Hopefully they designed those slanted slats so the hood latch actually fits

Bleh. It's one of the reasons I only drive pre 05 BMWs.
The only thing worse is the grills on the i3. What an abomination. Call me a purest.

I like both but I prefer the titanium grills. Mine are the slanted version and they clear the hood latch just fine. I've recently painted the eyebrow grills with a clear coat so they are a nice deep gloss black and I do think they look better that way then satin or matte.
