WTB: Black Rims for 2004 3.0

currently rocking stock 17in wheels and want to upgrade to black

I dipped my stock ones but as we all know plastidip will eventually peel at some point in time and don't want to deal with the hassle

any input would be much appreciated....

thank you

Ricky Bobby 11-08-2015 02:51 PM

Are you planning on keeping the 17s? If so just powdercoat them

Don't have a backup set though, how long does that process usually take?

I had huge air bubbles in one of my dipped rims so I ended up peeling them off anyway

Ricky Bobby 11-08-2015 02:54 PM

You'd have to check a local powdercoater, usually a couple weeks. Alternatively, find a set for the E53 you like off of Craigslist or something and send those out to be PC'ed

ok perfect thanks as always Ricky!

crystalworks 11-08-2015 05:09 PM

If you were closer I'd give you a smoking deal on a set of 17's off my old 4.4i to have powdercoated.

mam4.6 11-08-2015 05:18 PM

You want a set of replica 87's?? ;) Look great powdercoated... I could even get them powdercoated for you...

pm me and we'll go from there

Do any of you just run winter tires all year round? I see no reason to get sport tires unless you have M edition personally.

must be nice lol

cold weather is approaching the chicagoland area but know my X will handle the snow no problems

Ricky Bobby 11-09-2015 10:37 AM

I run staggered 20s with all seasons (no seasons lol) all year round because I'm lazy - I'm not climbing any snow covered mountains so for my grocery getting and office commute it does just fine - and I can drive in snow better than half the friggin soccer mom bimbos in their Lexus RX talking on their cell phone and wondering why their DSC lights are flashing in the snowstorms as they slide into the car in front of them lol

lol this ^^^^

I have winter tires on my stock 17's which are so worn out from baked brake dust in some spots, I was just gonna use those for winter and when I get new rims and tires I would rock those for rest of the year

I want to get at least 19's on my new tire set

Ricky Bobby 11-09-2015 10:44 AM

^Personally if you dont have rear fender flares the Style 87's are perfectly flush without spacers due to the offsets

and these

what you guys think?

crystalworks 11-10-2015 06:58 PM

Not sure the offset is going to be right on those first ones?

The second ones are kind of meh... at least to me.

upallnight 11-10-2015 09:57 PM

The hub could be too big on the second set of wheels since they were brought for a X5M. You will need to go with hubcentric rings, not unless you like driving a car with the shakes.

agreed and plus considering the scratches

will try to make lower offer and let you guys know

THE VEIN 12-03-2015 12:56 PM

the tires are about $900 with free shipping plus they are about 8-10 months old. and like you said, the wheels have some scratches. i would probably pay around $1000-$1200

got him down to 1600 only and tires are brand new only 1000 miles on them, not sure if it's really worth it at this point with that price

Serb404 12-03-2015 01:40 PM

now they are 1500 lol

thoughts?

THE VEIN 12-04-2015 06:32 PM

personally I would stay at 1200 but its only worth as much as you want to spend. is it worth the $200-$300 difference to wait for another set to come around? i bought replica style 87's before for $600 on ebay. local shops in my area sell replica 20" wheels for $800-$900

thanks for the suggestions and enjoy your weekend

With brand new tires that is not a bad deal. New Toyo Proxes on sale run ~$800 and are one of the most affordable quality 20" tires in X5 sizes. I've seen those wheels for ~$700 before, so it adds up. Talk him down a hundred or two and jump on them if you like those wheels. They've always been one of the best X5 options available.

agreed on them being one of the best X5 options but talking him down more is not going to happen, the tires are pure quality and like I mentioned have only 1000 miles but for the 2 damaged curb scratches you'd think it would be at a more reasonable offer price which ultimately leads me to believe there's a reason why he hasn't sold them yet, therefore I'm not going to consider it anymore

Serb404 12-30-2015 12:42 PM

found another deal, maybe can get it down to 1000

https://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/wto/5374969916.html

Serb404 12-31-2015 12:33 PM

purchased for 1000 with new tires too

TECN1K 01-04-2016 10:55 AM

Smokin deal.

Ricky Bobby 01-04-2016 11:31 AM

Nice job! Now you can mark thread as "solved" lol
