VALVE COVER GASKET BOLTS
Does anybody have a picture from the Bentley manual to post here with the torque specs and torque sequence for valve cover o M54 engine?
I did a search, I find conflicting information on the torque. I have yet to see the tightening sequence. Thank you. |
PM me your email or phone number, if you have a smartphone It will be easier for me to just send you a picture text messages with pages, you can import them in to your PC or view from there...

Valve cover
Thank you buddy.
PM sent. |
The torque spec on those bolts is something like 22 in. lb. You can make these bolts tight with a nut driver, and certainly they can be over tightened with a 1/4" socket handle.

6 ft lbs. And no more. I broke one when I missed hearing the click of my torque wrench

Bentley says 10 Nm/89 in-lb

For the life of me - I can figure out which one is the Head Cover Bolt...
|
#5 - #6 is the rubber grommet needing to be replaced

89 in. lb. is the right spec. I think I called out 22 earlier, that's too low. But still, you can do this with a nut driver or a 1/4" drive handle. DO NOT USE A FT. LB. TORQUE WRENCH HERE, such a wrench will be working at the very bottom end of its adjustable range, where it will be not very accurate. If you are going to use a "not so accurate" tool, just use a 1/4" drive handle and calibrate your wrist. 89 in. lb. will put you at about 7 ft. lb. |
Yesterday someone sent me a PM with the specs from Bentley manual sayin 89 in.
I do have few torque wrenchs one which is in inches. I have also bought the valve cover kit Victor Heinz it comes with the gaskets and the groomets for all bolts. Thanks all for your input. Much appreciated. |
