How can i tell if I have HID on my X?, just visually?

Under the hood it will say "High Intensity Lamp" or "Xenon" lamp. The look of the light is also different outside of the car. If your headlight lamp looks similar to your hi-beam lamp then you don't have HID lights (xenon).

PS: HID is the type of light, Xenon is the gas used.

Thanks, just went out to the garage to check, no sign under hood, but headlights are definitely diff then high beams, white vs yellow

The white and orange don't matter, that deals with whether or not you have Sport Package.

The answer to you is yes as all Canadian X5's regardless of engine size have standard HID or xenon headlights. Now your lowbeam is xenon but your hightbeam isn't. Only '04+ X5s have bi-xenon.

does anyone have some pics (oem and aftermarket)of the rear end of the lamp (on current shape headlights)? i'm thinkin of installing an aftermarket hid and id like to find out how to tackle the job :) thanks

Nicknick1, I'm not sure how useful bi-xenon is since I've never used my highbeam for anything except when flashing. It's better to get angel eyes and clear corners if you have 02 or eariler X. And yes you can mod the fog into HID (4300K) for an exact match with your lowbeam. You would need the entire kit. PM me if you need to know where to buy them.
