I want a set of heated auto-dimming ones now.

Found a used set of used OE gold mirrors... may look great on my beige X5.

Big difference in price of aspherical heated mirrors the also auto-dim.

So can these be retrofitted if I have auto-dimming mirrors?

I don't mind losing auto-dimming rather have no blind spots.

Fitment on non OE is a concern, but if they'll physically attach to the housing, you should be OK. You'll simply leave the auto dimming connection disconnected from the replacement mirror glass. If you chose OE dimming glass, the connections will be the same and the fitment should not be a concern.

I just checked for oe part numbers but even though it shows the drawing there is no part number.

I think I want OEM as it has a thick black trim around the mirror. The eBay after market ones don't.

Aspherical Mirrors - Check difference!

I bought two pair of them knock off for like $24 a pair shipped from China so took a couple weeks. I was concerned about the thin material and if they were glass or plastic. Optically they are a B+ at best but the slight convex curve hides the imperfections well. Absolutely worth the trade off for the infinitely more useful reflection!

I literally have no blind spot. By the time a car is out of my driver mirror I can see the entire hood.

If you look at the shape of the mating parts you will see they aren't correct you'll need to trim a little plastic and they will snap right on.

My process was to pull the whole gimbal off the car (usually breaks the existing mirror) then reassemble the mirror into the gimbal and press the redone assembly into the ball. It takes a stupid amount of force: I put a big suction cup onto the face of the mirror and "hug" the suction cup from the opposite side of the motor body (I stand in front of the mirror and pull the mirror into the mirror body toward me using the suction cup)

So the passenger side mirror no longer says object may look closer warning?

I don't have the moronic saying on either side of either car now.

The sublime ignorance of the DOT to think that having a mirror with 1/8 of the field of view could in any way be better then one with no blind spot is amazing

That's a USA moronic thing most of the sane world didn't fall into that legalistic lawyer wording.
