Bought wheels, now need spacers. Help!

I bought these thinking they would fit as long as I had hub rings:

I used an offset calculator before I bought, but the tire place showed me the fit and said spacers for the rear are needed. I've never used spacers so what am I looking for? Links would be great! Thanks!

I have to ask the Stupid Question here, Why don't you just buy spacers from -- wait for it -- the tire store. They live and breath this stuff.

You need spacers because the inside of the tire strikes the suspension somewhere. The tire store should be able to see how hard the tires rub, and then suggest a spacer to cure the problem.

One thing to be aware of is that if you have rubbing on the suspension and cure it with a spacer, then you might end up with rubbing on a fender. This is cured by moving the fenders out of the way -- rolling fenders -- or by selecting a smaller tire.

The tire place recommended a wheel place that was closed. Either way I want input from the BMW board b/c I figure there's more than one kind of spacer.

Great guide to help you find out what size spacers you need.

I wonder what offset calculator did you use, so that other can avoid it next time. The OE rear wheel is 20"x10.5" +30mm. You bought the one that is +40mm, which will push the wheel inside. You'll need at the least a 10mm spacer to fit those. Make sure to get the one with 74.1mm hub bored, and use hub rings on the car.

Personally on the X anything 20mm+ I would run DRA only type spacers meaning short bolts that bolt spacer to hub, stock bolts - bolt wheel to spacer. No extended lug studs.

How about these?

20mm BMW Wheel Spacers 5x120 74mm Pair 74 1mm Hubcentric E70 x5 14x1 25 Bolts | eBay

edit: based on the post above I'm guessing that putting the hubcentric ring between the hub and spacer is best. ........I did see some rings that adapted 72.56 to 74.1, but they're the extended bolt ones..

I really like the way those look and that's a dang good price.

Mind throwing some pics up when you have them installed?

Will do. Also, the wheels are pretty light (like 25lb).
