I've been looking for a single mass kit that isn't lightweight. Kind of half way to where you are at. simpler system, cheaper, and maybe not as much of bear to daily drive as I imagine the lightweight would be.
(Clutch is failing or Flywheel, can really figure which it is. sometimes slips, then other times it doesn't. Once it starts to then it's much easier to get it to slip. 135K miles and the previous owner towed with it.) |
OK, so i've had this lightweight clutch and flywheel setup in my 06 for just over a month or so. almost 1K miles. Overall i like driving it better, it bites really well. the drive line rattle is kinda fun. think i might try their mixture of fluid to help with the chattering when idling in a parking lot and trying to talk with someone through the window. (Pushing the clutch in works but its a bit heavier now) I get the look then just smile and say yeah she does that.
But i think i'm gonna look into getting some front and rear diffs from a 4.4. the 3.64 Differential might help with moving this thing along like a gentleman. coming in and out of first gear is a pain and i can't always start in 2nd. |
when I had my E46 330Ci, this was one of my upgrades adn I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. I didnt even mind the disc chatter but I knew there were rumors on how to quieten it... I never did and I swear by installing the light weight fly wheels. I think mine was 8lb and BO oh BOY did my tach ever drop quickly when the clutch was pressed in, so I had to learn to shift quickly to keep revs in proper shift point. I'd highly recommend it to any manual trannys

I have my 4.6 in the air to swap out the 3.90 diffs for 4.10s out of a 2001 3.0. I haven't found anyone that is sure it is a plug and play or not. I know the rear output flanges are different but should swap over and be fine. I know the front diff splines are the same. I don't know if I am going to get error codes because of diff change or not. I am going to replace the front axles while I am in there and waiting on right side to arrive. Diffs have been taking up space in the garage for a year or two. I would be more motivated if I could calculate a 0-60 improvement and found it was a tenth or more. |
Any updates on the longevity of this clutch? I smoked mine pulling a 3000 lb travel trailer and am looking for something heavier duty than stock. Thanks
