Cheap intake alternative
$40 bucks for the K&N cone filter and under $10 bucks worth of items at home depot for the make-shift heat shield.

Nice! Nothing wrong with a little home brew. If it were mine, I'd use some adhesive to hold then weather stripping on there to make it look a little cleaner than with the tape.
I have been thinking of making my own intake and intake pipe. The only aftermarket filter I see for the 3.0 leaves the piping stock which has a Helmholtz resonator as well as some ribbing that probably turbulates airflow (probably not that much though). |
Intake
Nice work!
I personally do not like those K&N Filters. If they are too oily it sometimes messes up the MAF. |

I threw the factory air box back in temporarily to compare the difference back to back and man I gotta say the way the throttle feels is like night day for me. With the airbox there's almost an added "lagginess" to the throttle, almost like it's being "bogged down" in a way (clean new filter) and when I took it out with the intake it just really feels like airflow is opened up and the car can really breath. Throttle response is instant and just feels so much more available. |
Freakin rad!!!
Now take and wrap the "box" with carbon fiber wrap! I know where you can get some ....:) |
