Concealed carry locations
I am interested in converting the upper portion of my center
console lid to a concealed carry weapon location. Right now, there is formed plastic for the nonexistent phone. It's empty. Has anyone removed that plastic to make room for "Something different" I have had the lid off and in hand, but see no way to remove the liner. I prefer this discussion not turn into a Second Amendment argument. |
You could just cut out all the plastic and fab yourself a little tray.
|
The threads I recall used locations more accessible. I've done work that required removing the console. Takes some doing but makes it much easier to make changes.

Okay,
Anyone know how to get out the preformed plastic liner out? I want a nice looking holder, yet concealed. When the copter is overhead filming after the attempted carjacking, I need to look organized. Nothing worse than a crime scene with messy interior :) |
Is there a reason the lower section below the phone tray section isn't considered as a possibility (#1 in diagram)? If you have the insert that holds cassettes or CDs (#4)...you can replace it with #1 which gives more space.

Guns are icky!
Do you have passengers in the back seat? I like to put something in the pocket at the back of the passenger seat. Out of the way but easy to reach and present with one hand. No fumbling with opening latches, just reach and pull. |

I'd mount a holster in a reasonably hidden, yet accessible area. You don't want a firearm flying around in an accident. Sloppy. |
Try cross draw holsters, they are a great and easy solution.
Like for example https://www.craftholsters.com/cross-draw-holsters |
I vote hood mounted.

I'd consider one of these or something like it.

You may think I am kidding, but considering: 1) Indianapolis, my sweet little city that used to be quiet, has moved from around from 500th in the nation to 18th in gun violence. 2) I work with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and a couple other groups, in which I do pre- and post-foreclosure inspections of houses, as well as evictions of the people being foreclosed on, as well as squatters. You would only imagine what I have to put up with on any given day. I have been in neighborhoods where there was an active gang fight, had car windows shot out while I was in the car, walked into active "shooting dens", meth labs, etc. I do carry, and feel safe enough doing so, and safe enough that I could get myself out of harms way, but again, I don't want to be diving for the floor boards, and trying to ham-fistedly be reaching for my G at the same time. I did like the car steering column someone posted. That may be the best way, and is usable in all my vehicles. And, to avoid any anti-amendment folks out there, keep your thoughts to yourself or share them with someone else. I've been handling firearms for 40 years now, served in our military, am an expert marksman, regular hunter and practice using my weapon on a very regular basis. Not interested in your opinion on the matter, and remember, for EVERYONE, your rights end right where someone else's begin. Been staring at the steering column holster for the last 10 minutes, it's ingenious, and I can't believe I have never seen that one before... |
I know its pretty genius. There are different types if you google search it. that was just one example.
|
What do you think Indianapolis should do to get back to 500th in the nation for gun violence?

Someone already made it happen. https://www.e90post.com/forums/attac...4&d=1394134432 http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/...o/img_6704.jpg Linky |
^ That's a slick install. Very clean looking. Lose all the storage but I guess that's a small price to pay for a good location and ease of access. Is that an e39? E46?
Tjtryon, don't be so defensive. I think most would carry with an occupation like yours. |

My E53 location is a lot more simple. Though not even 1/2 as cool. :( https://xoutpost.com/attachments/tes...small-copy.jpg |
