Mediabridge Chirp
I've found other guys have ran into this issue - but haven't come across a solution....
I just installed a Dice/Audiovox mediabridge, connected to my trunk CD changer harness - and when AVRCP Text is enabled (scrolling) I get a distinct chirp from the speakers. Only happens when text is scrolling, it coincides with the movement of the letters. It's super weird... but plausible. There is interference happening with the data being transmitted to the MID. The only way to fix it is to disable scrolling text... well that sucks. I stream Pandora via Bluetooth and it's nice to have the song displayed. Plan on adding a Sirius module too in the future, so I'll need scrolling text. Anyone else? |
Yup, I isolated the data and ground out of the mediabridge harness, the chirp is gone.
If anyone else is dealing with that annoying chirp (google yields tons threads) You need to hack the dice harness and shorten a few wires. This means you'll have to keep your media bridge in the trunk. If you need mic or USB you'll need to wire it to the back. Plenty of extensions available on ebay/amazon. I suppose you could really tear into things, and wire it to the MID/NAV itself to keep it up front - but this was the least amount of effort required, it's cold outside. http://i.imgur.com/4x8cWDi.jpg |
Have had Mediabridge for several years, no chirp, is installed behind the trim at the front of the console, wires to the back--standard installation. Never had a single problem. Also have the Sirus module that works great. Have DSP.

Mines a newer Audiovox - and when I started tearing into the harness, I could tell they were low quality, 20ga+ wiring, with standard aluminium stranded "shielding" ground sheath. |

Just did this mod to the wire myself and it eliminated that annoying chirp.
Thanks!!! |
