Door vapor barrier seal
Can someone shed light on the material used to attach the vapor barrier seal on the doors of the X5? Where can you obtain the material or does BMW have a part number associated with it. Thanks

FYI - The OE butyl is German ....but all you get is a handfull and not enough.
Go pick up 3M Butyl from the parts store....much more needed for the VB |
Go to local auto glass installation shops and ask for "Butyl Rope". About $10 for a roll of 15 feet or so.
Very cheap stuff. The American made Butyl Rope is as good or better than the German stuff. Make sure the 2 drain holes are cleaned. |
Just ordered the 3MM stuff on Amazon as I have three vapor barriers to do this winter. E39 rear doors and one Minivan driver's door. Oh what fun!
