Bosch Driver's Side Wiper Doesn't Fit Flush

Hey All,

Has anyone else had an issue with Bosch Icon driver's side wiper not fitting flush?

I bought a new Bosch Evolution and it leaves a 6" x 8" blob of water, unwiped, directly in my field of vision. I assumed a few weeks on the windscreen and it would flatten out. No dice.

I talked to Bosch and they were very helpful and gracious (Thank you @BoschAutoParts, #BoschAutoParts for all the help! Hopefully this thank you will show in your social media sweep) and sent me a brand new Bosch Icon. It has a slightly different and better connection system, and aside from that, the wipers seem identical and very well made.

And it leaves almost the exact same 6" x 8" blob in the same place.

Any thoughts? Could the spring be too weak to hold it in place? Any thoughts on what will work? OEM? Rainex? Another Bosch?

I just put brand new icons on yesterday. I did not notice a blob, nor was there a blob with the evolutions that I replaced.

Common problem. Remove the little rubber bumper on the drivers side wiper arm about halfway down. It keeps the wiper from sitting all the way down on the glass. Had same problem when I first bought my X5. Don't know why they put it there, but works better without it.

I looked at that thingy too, but I didn't want to just remove it.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll give it a shot!

Hey David,

I took a look at mine, but it's dark out.

Is it something to hacksaw off? It seems part metal, part plastic.

I'll go back to OEM if necessary, but it seems odd that that thing causes such problems.

Thanks for your help!

No need to hacksaw off. Just pull off the rubber cover. It'll clear the windshield just fine. Been running mine this way for several years without any problem.

Sometimes I am absolutely amazed at how hard it is to find pictures of parts for this car. Thank JEEBUS there are billions of pics of the rear wiper.

Anyway, there is no rubber cover. Just the metal/plastic bit I mentioned. Take it off, or OEM blade?

Sorry, like I said, I took it off several years ago, so I was remembering wrong. It is plastic, not rubber. Take off the plastic cover.

Got it. Thank you.

Daytime job. Maybe I'll see it in the daytime sometime soon. Heh.
