LED Reverse lights that won't throw an Error?
I've tried 2 different sets - both flicker and throw an error. Any suggestions?
Last one I tried, and failed. 30W CREE Super White Error Free 1156 BA15S P21W LED Backup Reverse Light Canbus | eBay |
I went with the Sylvania Zevos in my E53. Had them in my E36 and E31 both with 20% tint all around and it definitely improved my nighttime visibility. They were around $25.00 at my local Advance Auto Parts. They do not throw any codes in any one of the aforementioned vehicles. In the E53 they do flicker a little bit on startup as the LCM runs its self check of the vehicles lights. If you can live with a little flickering they are well worth it, I believe they carry a lifetime warranty as well.

Neat. Sounds worth it for $25.
Thanks man. |
You need to remove cold monitoring via coding to remove the flicker.

I forget the code line, but it is license cold monitoring. I'm sure someone remembers. I think I have my coding backups in the office. I'll try to check. |
I turned off cold monitoring on my tails and reverse lights. I've had similar to these (the 30W Cree ones pictured above) for about 2-3 years now, not a single issue but you do need to code it off.
Keep in mind our reverse lights shine out the SIDE, not the top of the bulb, so you need some bright LED's all around the bulb. Those should work well. |
guess i better get to coding. time to read up.
i'll be back after I brick my truck. |

My license plate LED bulbs do have a slight flicker. Very very minor - you have to really stare at it in a dark place to notice it. |
