Do I have DSP...??

I recently bought an 01 X5 4.4i.

Turns out the MID has been swapped out and the current one does not offer the BC button, nor the other functions that are associated with the proper display....ventilation programming, etc...

Anyway I am now in the market to get the proper MID, at a minimum, one that includes the BC button.

Anyway, how do I know if I have the DSP option?
There is a black amp mounted in the rear of the vehicle (no changer).

Also, when I run my VIN (LH17798) it says I have "Hifi Loudspeaker system" and "Radio BMW Business."

Thanks all.

run the last 7 of your VIN through one of the online BMW VIN decoders -- should list all options.

Correct, I listed that in my post....it says "hifi sound package" and "BMW Business Radio."

Would it specifically say "DSP Radio"?

I just can't find any details on what "HIFI" means from 2001....

Take a picture of the amp and post it.

I think this is it....

Is that drivers side rear? If so, that is not a dsp amp can you pull back a little bit and take a wider shot?

That's not a DSP amp.

Yes driver's side rear....disregard the white box, I was adding in an iPod connection.

K, thanks

Anyone know if when I get the correct MID installed, if there will be dealer programming needed, or are they just plug in play?

The MID is a simple display device...it doesn't need to be coded. And it appears you need a MID with the AUDIO button (no DSP) at the top and the clock-face & BC button on the bottom button since you have a X5 4.4 with high cluster. Really sorry that someone stuck that low MID in your X:

And as others mentioned...that is NOT a DSP amp in the pic you posted. A DSP amp has 3 connectors on the top instead of the single connector in your pic. :)
