Securing Eonon / Pumpkin / DYN(AVIN) Aftermarket Head Units

Finally getting around to installing my Eonon GA5166 head unit just wondering how folks have gone about securing it? I know a lot of the aftermarket units pretty much have the same built-in bezel not a separate, removable one like the stock unit. I've read about folks cutting the foam from the packaging to wedge it in there but is there anything else one can do (i.e. Velcro strips, etc...)?

I used the 4 screws on the bottom of my 16:9 boardmonitor plus two zip ties in the top corners to secure my stock HU.

I don't see how you could use zip ties at all with these...

I installed a Eonon unit a couple week ago.

I cut out pretty much all the trim in that "hole" original HU sits, put the Eonon unit in, it sits pretty perfect.

It will come out with force to one corner, but otherwise, bumps and everything it won't fall.

If I need to secure it more, I would make some small tabs around the trim to hold it in.

Did you use the screws removed from the top of the eonon or the stock screws to secure the top corners? The plastic tabs in the top corners can be removed to allow access to the screw holes...

I used those screw holes but found I couldn't use the factory ones as they were not quite long enough. I ended up finding a pair in the screw bin that were longer and the same pitch that worked perfectly. Only used those top two screws and never had a problem with our Avin unit moving.

I did not use a single screw. The unit just sits inside the "hole" for the time being, but it didn't move at all, so I plan to just let it sit as is. I'm waiting for an extended cable to come in for my back up camera set up.

Figured this would be the case - thanks!

I have the equivalent Pumpkin unit and it has been sitting securely now for several months with no screws or securing. The question I have is; What do the screws in the top corners go in to? I have the 2 little removable screw covers in the top corners and the unit came with 2 small right angle brackets, but as far as I can see there is nothing to screw into. Did you use long screws and just screw into the remains of the plastic frame or rig something else up?

I had factory nav and there were 2 factory mounting points there already. Not sure if non nav X5's have the holes already. You could always drill a small hole and use some of those speaker catch screw clamps of yours doesn't.

No mounting (friction fit) works great but if you get rear ended... that's when you'll wish you had figured a way to secure the head unit. Would see it happen from time to time as an installer.

I had factory 4:3 nav and later converted to 16:9 so I think I am also missing the top two screw holes.

Think I will just friction mount until I can figure something better out.
