Squeaky steering wheel

Hi everyone, I own a 2006 X5 4.8is with 85k, my steering wheel sqeaks. I have replaced clock spring and tried to lube it but nothing works. Could it be the steering shaft or coloumn, bearings? I live in CT. Need help and fixing it. I've tried the dealer and they can't get it right. Sqeaks comes back in 2 days.

The only thoughts is clean and lube up the CV joint on the shaft out in the engine bay. Many have owners have posted binding and issues of not returning to center that required replacement. The majority were located in hi dust/dirt locations that accelerated the wear.

Spray it down with WD-40 and see if what your hearing is being transmitted up the shaft.

You may have tried this already, but see if the noise stays constant with the tilt adjusted all the way up/all the way down.

Second thought: There is a plastic bearing just lower that the snap ring. RealOEM.com shows a good image of the assembly pieces on the shaft.

Did that do the trick?

It was that plastic firewall sleeve on mine. You might try to spray a little lube on it to find out. If I remember correctly the fire wall is two layers and there are 2 sleeves
