PA soft 1.4 windows 10

Anyone successfully got PA soft 1.4 working on windows 10 64bit. I have INPA etc, but would like to get PA soft working as well. I had it working on windows 8.1, but can't get it to work on windows 10 for some reason.

I finally got PA Soft 1.4 working on my Windows 10 machine today. I had some intermittent connection errors once it was up and going but overall it was a success. I'm putting the links I found useful below.

As above - I have too and used the same links.

Did you get yours working Tom? I seemed to remember having to modify a .inf file before Windows 10 would recognise the hardware Id of my adaptor. If you are still stuck, I'll revisit my installation.

E53cruiser 01-25-2017 12:27 AM

Can I buy any one of them on eBay and flash new software to make it work? All the ones I've seen on eBay show E53 to 2003. Any success with 2006 4.8is?

Hcbeck2689 01-26-2017 12:46 AM

I installed today and got it to work. Have you figured it out yet?

I bought my adapter off of Amazon and downloaded the software, installed both device drivers and working great on my garage 64 bit W10 laptop through virtual.

I got mine to work, but for some stupid reason every time windows does an upgrade I have to reinstall the drivers. The annoying thing is that upgrades happen fairly often.

I have a similar problem with the webcam on my laptop. With windows 10 it stopped working and I found some new drivers but windows seems to keep swapping them around and the webcam works about every 3rd time I boot windows. I really hate windows 10.

PA soft uses a different cable. Can be bought on ebay with connector and software for around $30.

Is coding easier with BMW Scanner 1.4 as opposed to NCSExpert? I already have the Romanian software suite

The user interface is much easier with PA Soft 1.4 but it is limited compared to NCS Expert. I have both. One thing the PA Soft allowed really easily was the LCM EEPROM programming of the VIN and mileage to match my cluster and clear the tamper dot when I upgraded to a C36 SW4.0 unit to get the triple blink feature. But I use NCS Expert to enable all those functions like brake force display, euro double impulse hazards and triple blink (which I have now programmed as 5 blinks). PA Soft has a little easier functionality and it is the first program I open and check when coding something and at under $30.00 for module and cable, it should be in everyone's tool box. It has its advantages for sure.

Ricky Bobby 02-15-2017 01:40 PM

^^Can you pm me on how to code the triple blink turn signal feature? Something I always wanted to program on mine with NCS Expert but I have no clue how to do it or what lines to look for! I also have a few things I want to code that I forgot about a few years back -

Sounds like I am good to go with my Romanian suite but thank you for letting me know -

Ricky Bobby, I am not sure the E53 has this option. My E46 needed a 2006 LCM to get the CYCL_TI_BLK parameter. I just looked in my daten files for the E53 and the latest LCM I have is C24 and I don't see that parameter in the list. Let me do some digging, I would love to program this on my E53 too.

Adorian 02-15-2017 04:33 PM

I have a x5 e53 2002 3.0d 184 hp and i dont have the turn signal blinking 3 times, can any one tell me if i can activate it ? and how to activate it with ncs expert for now. My bmw scaner 1.4.0 will arive in one month because i`m from romania.

Thanks

Overboost 02-15-2017 05:36 PM

I do not think it can be done on the LCM on the E53 X5. I did however find a iBus module that looks like it will be fun to play with. Modlight2. A simple 3 wire connection in the rear by the cd changer area or anywhere you can pull 12V, GND and iBus. Modlight2 does offer 3 4 and 5 blink one touch turn signals along with a long list of features to play with. I ordered it and will report back.

GND is Ground

Manufacturer claims it works on ALL X5.

5 series-E39 (all features),
7 series-E38 (all features),
X5 (E53) (all features except automatic unlock on turning off motor and automatic folding/expanding wing mirrors)..

All E53s have IBUS and CANBUS.
Almost all BMWs produced between 1996 and 2012 have IBUS.
All BMWs produced after 09.1998 do have CANBUS.

Well it can not be done on our X5 by LCM programming but it can be done with modLight2. Got mine installed and programmed. Pretty cool little iBus hack.

Overboost, those modLight2 hacks are wicked cool! Any chance you have a thread for the coding you could link for us? Thanks!

How can I help Chris? The ModLight2 is out of Europe and the coding is all done on the module itself by button sequences, no computer needed. Is this what you are asking?

I have been playing with mine doing crazy keyfob activations, cornering lights and triple blinks.

Got it! Found the Modlight site. Way more straight forward than trying to use PA Soft BMW Decoder 1.4! LOL

Speaking of...

I have a really odd, or at least I think it is an odd issue. I'm running a Windows 7 64bit laptop. I downloaded the Demo version of the BMW Decoder1.4 application first, and it connected to my cable and communicated with my 2006 X54.4i with no trouble. But it doesn't do much but listen to the car and run a module error check. I can't clear any errors or code anything. So I searched for a copy of the full version and I found a link on an E46fanatics thread for a CD image of the full application. Burned the CD, installed the executable and am completely stymied. :banghead:

When I opened the shortcut I keep getting the same message, "Cable Drivers installed" "Cable not connected". It is in fact connected to the car and ignition is on. I've tried every procedure for installing and reinstalling drivers for the cable I can find, and nothing is working.

Here is the cable that I have...

VAG-COM VCDS Cable USB Scanner Tool OBD 2 FTDI 409.1 VW Audi Ross Tech INPA BMW | eBay

I can get to the settings window in the Demo version and i can select the cable, port, and configuration, and even if i make changes it still works?? In the full version I can't get past the pop-up window, there is a link to a folder of drivers, but I can't use them on my 64bit OS, and an exit button. :dunno:

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is. Any and all help, advise, berating is welcome. :thanks:

Are you talking about PA Soft 1.4? The cable you show is not the same as the one I have. I have separate cables for PA Soft 1.4 and INPA. The one you linked says it's for INPA and I know they are not compatible with PA Soft 1.4. Here is a link to the right cable for PA Soft 1.4.

https://www.amazon.com/Scan-Tool-Dia...ds=pa+soft+1.4

You will also need the FTDI USB drivers using any operating system other than XP. These drivers work fine on 64 bit computers all the way through Windows 10.

chrisryan1972 09-07-2017 11:41 AM

Thanks for the info. I may just punt on this and try another cable and pick up the one that you recommended. I just found it strange that it works great with the DEMO version of the PA Soft 1.4 software, but doesn't work with the full version. I assumed that they were the same application with just some features deactivated, but it must be a completely different build of the software with different cable requirements. :dunno:

Thanks again!
