Scammy Ebay Power Seller

Germanpartsaver

I scored a great deal on a set of OEM motor mounts for my E39 - check ebay today, they cancelled my order (without any communication) and refunded my money. They claim the parts were all of a sudden "defective"

I thought ebay was a binding contract - and I believe they realized they mistakenly listed these for too low of a price, and instead of abiding by ebay policy and taking a hit, they deceptively selected "damaged/lost" to get out of any penalties.

Thoughts?

i dont think you will have any evidence to "proof" they are not "damaged", seller wins.

Yeah, I've had good deals cancelled like that, too. Stinks.

The only good side is that eBay does stand with you if the sale goes through and the seller doesn't ship or sends you crap.

Consider yourself lucky and just "Let It Go".

harsh criticism. i think i would suspect scammy seller if the item ends back up for bidding in the near future.

Had this happen to me as well. That's just the way it goes sometimes... NBD. Not out any $$$ or time at least.

They emailed me back with a plausible answer. The rubber was dry rotted.

^That is definitely plausible especially if they were old stock. Which is why I try to shy away from parts on Ebay or Amazon, you never know how long things are sitting in warehouses. FCP at least warranties all for life

It sounds from a customer service perspective that they are looking out to do the right thing. You do not want to install a set of engine mounts to find out that they have dry rotted after going through all that labor to change them out.
