CLUNK, BUMP, ???
Turns out the clunking on the left front side was the strut tower bushings.
Apparently they didn't get replaced when the new Bils', went in 60K miles ago. Most steering wheel vibration has also been removed. Replace left and right at 87. each plus labor. Darn. SO I guess the mechanics that diagnosed "front arm thrust bushing" replacement missed the ball. Why are these X5 so hard to diagnose? Why do so called"BMW " mechanics either really good or just plain bad at fixing an X5? 500 bucks later and it was still clunking until my FL guy found the problem. Oh well. |
Good you found the solution for that.
That's a big hunk o'rubber with a bearing in the middle. Personally never had one go bad on a lot of cars. BMW suspensions are easy to diagnose...when it starts clunking, replace everything in the area lol! |
