Good deal for someone in the Jersey or tri-state area.

^I agree - asking price isnt too bad either

X53Jay4.8is 02-08-2016 01:53 PM

Somebody should be all over this deal now that it is on Ebay with $95 shipping cost. Its a good deal considering what the Eisenmann Exhaust goes for. I have one on my 4.6is and its magical in sound.

Eisenmann Exhaust for BMW E53 x5 2000 2006 | eBay

Do these actually make any extra power over stock, or is it really just for sound?

The power increase if any is marginal. The exhaust system on the X5's with a V8 were already pretty good from the factory. The center muffler has an x-pipe in it already just muffled with packing and free flowing. If you tune the vehicle and place a few more mods on it with the exhaust gains can me made.

Ricky Bobby 02-09-2016 05:01 PM

^Agreed - on a 3 ton truck it may increase peppiness but its mostly sound - especially on NA motors

crystalworks 02-09-2016 05:20 PM

No real power... but it's guaranteed to lower your fuel economy due to the increase in pleasure factor from planting the right foot down harder than you used to so you can hear it. ;)

i wonder how the fitment is.

ive seen some horrible fitting eisenmann exhausts on e53's. especially if the previous owner welded on some different tips..

Good point but may be worth it for the $800. I love the Eisenmann Race on my 4.6is. Sounds truly menacing.

Had one on my 2005 SLK 350 manual was a sport version VERY nice! My son drives that now and it has a nice sound not too loud but definitely throatier than stock. Fitment was a bit tricky.

Really considering the Remus for my 2005 X5 4.8is. I really like the look of the quad tips and new is only $1183. That Eisenmann deal sounds good but would have to take off the flat oval tips and put on new quad pipes. How hard is that?

My shop here could handle anything but they recently got a Remus account and are "pushing" those and have three they did on BMWs recently. They all sound great and LOOK very nice, just not sure they do what and Eisenmann does on quality of materials and sound. Opinions?

I'll say this the Eisenmann is a higher quality in build (they are hand built and fully polished stainless steel) but the quality of the Remus is good for the dollars they are asking. In addition the Remus typically sound deeper/ with more bass in tonal quality over the Eisenmann. I was going to go the route of the Remus but I got a $935 deal on a New Eisenmann Race which I could not pass up since they are $2400 new. If I were doing it all over again the Eisenmann is $2300-$2400 I would try the Remus for half the price. I've had a remus on my 1995 540i sport going on 6 years now and no problems. I still get compliments on the sound quality of the exhaust at times when I am filling up at the gas station. The Remus tonal sound is different than the Eisenmann but still intoxicating like the Eisenmann.

Good information thank you. I suspected the Remus was a bit deeper it sure sounded that way but not hearing them side by side I was/am not sure. The Remus also has that tidy Remus Wolf logo on it and has really pretty quad pipes sticking out. Can't say I like the flat oval stock double pipes. They have that tilt as well!

I definitely like the round tips a lot better than the factory semi rectangular tips. I know some like the factory rectangular tips and thats okay. You must post a video of the remus exhaust that end up installing on the 4.8is. I would love to hear the results of this system

itscoo2pyopants 02-10-2016 02:15 AM

Anyone know if that eBay auction fits the 4.8is?

Those pipes in the pictures look like the larger 4.6 and 4.8is pipes. Any good muffler shop can make this fit just fine on the 4.8is architecture.

Will do if I get the Remus which is likely! Then I will sell the stock ones on the 4.8is for a reasonable amount to recoup a few $$$.

My Remus exhaust. Happy to answer any questions

E54jay4.8is asked for a few sound clips of mine. Took these this afternoon.

Original everything from the header back to the Remus. All resonators cats and original piping are there.

Happy to answer any questions.

Hey Mike thanks for following through with a clip. Yours sounds mean and aggressive. Good stuff.

LeMansX5 02-10-2016 10:52 PM

For whatever its worth, I have 4.6is with Eisenmann Race and the 4.8is with X-pipe and resonator removed. The 4.8is with X-pipe is lot louder and throatier.

I am happy with 4.8is setup. So, if you want to save money, X-pipe minus resonator is a good option.

Yes good suggestion. My guys at the shop suggested an X pipe with resonator delete but I think I want some quad pipes to complete the look. I think I'm gonna do both. Should be pretty amazing.

I'm thinking of renewing from the manifold back, thus removing the cats and putting in a X-Over pipe and retaining the rear stock back boxes on my 4.6is.

Anyone done this? Think it would sound pretty epic.
