Converted to full/four corner BC Racing Supension
Hi Guys,
After reading on this forum about airbags vs coils I am pretty convinced that I want to convert my air suspension to coils. I have had way too many issues with my air suspension and frankly sick of spending so much time on it. I recently had an issue with the compressor which led me to believe I also have a faulty airbag (haven't checked that yet) so instead of wasting more time I'll just get the proper suspension on there once and for all. Besides, living in Norway makes this issue 1000 times worse as parts prices are beyond belief uber expensive. On this thread: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...version-3.html , the conversion is successful but no complete list is available or I'm just getting confused by all the names (also, sorry about your car mopes...at least the Mrs walked away safe and sound). Could you who has done this please post the complete parts list required to get this conversion done...many million thanks in advance! |
Ok so I got nowhere with above required setup, not even with the local indy (the biggest chain in Scandinavia).
I therefore contacted BC racing in the UK and asked them if they could help me and they recommended these: http://www.bc-racing.co.uk/applicati...-ra-14033.html Only "requirement" is to either remove or deflate rear bags. As simple as that! Well, I'm going for it. Will update with pics and results in a could of weeks or so. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk |
Update: Parts have now been ordered and on their way. Will post some pics once I get started on the conversion....
From reading another thread about removing the "inactive air susp." error after the conversion and based on what Killcrap says; I contacted BMW in my hometown and asked them if they could get rid of the error and their reply was almost identical to what killcrap said....it can be done! To be continued.... |

Now just waiting for the new Nav (Eonon) to arrive and I shall have 2 fun projects to start. |
I'm curious to see how the coding at the dealer will go for you. I have KW coilovers on mine and I've been searching for a solution to all of the warning lights.

Yeah I'm a bit anxious about that too, the tech at BMW seemed to know what I was talking about and he told me that he'll need to get a code from HQ that's custom to my VIN number and then reprogram the car....which is the right procedure.
I'm not starting the conversion for another week but will keep you guys updated with more pics and hopefully valuable info. Cheers |

Update: Finally converted up BC coilovers, no issues, straight swap and only thing left is the tracking/balancing. The warning on the dash is still there as the bmw tech who assured me he can do the job all of the sudden decided he won't work longer than 2pm today...its Friday....God forbid! I'll have to sort this out another time I guess.
Attachment 68812 Attachment 68813 Attachment 68814 I had an unrelated issue though when changing oil. When I opened the filter housing 3 pieces shot out, a spring, a plastic bit and a metal holder of some sort. See pic: I wasn't able to find where they came from and after almost 2 hours of looking around, calling people, reading on forums I gave up and put the filter back without it. Any advice? Kind of looks like a pressure relief valve. I wouldnt roll without it. BMW didn't put parts in for the hell of it.

Can't wait to see some more pics when you got it all set up

Don't startup the engine until this is resolved. You risk starving the engine of oil. |
