I hit the brakes, the car starts to skid that little red light with the 4x4 blinks, so Im like oh man, my new cars gonna be toast!!. I brake harder and eventually it stops in the middle of the road.(The hill led down to a preally bust 2 lane road, luckily no one was out there!!). I was like, hey I thought this had good tires, why didnt it stop!! In another instance I was in like 2" of snow (I admit I was going fast). And I tried to brake at the stoplight. The car first started to skid and then stopped the next light over. I got pulled over for running a red, but he didnt give me a ticket cause he saw the skid marks :/ So my ? is which tires are good? 4.4i 05

Yes they suck!
This is my solution. I am driving in snow every other weekend with no problem:thumbup:

snow tires over the OEM contis were a night and day diffrence i can only imagine the diffrence you will see with snows vs summer rubber. snow tires are great for stopping in snow but you cant suprise or it will slide.

I agree all season tires on AWD vehicles are still a compromise, let alone summer-only rubber. My dad's 325xi and my 4matic all have snows on as well for the best possible grip.

We got our X with 30,000 miles and it had oe tires. They lasted all that way to 60k. Let me tell you that they were absolutely horrible in the snow.

Now we're back to the Michelin MXV4 Plus. We just got somewhere around 4-6in of snow a few days ago. I don't know if Michelin changed something with the compound or what not, but they did great! Accelerating, braking, turning, were all great in the deep snow, light snow, ice. No it's not my imagination. The ride is still as comfy as before. Handling is good as well.
