Center console cup holder

Hi,

My cup holder broke and i just bought a used one on Ebay. It came with an extra that my car didn't have.
It has a "strange" form and I can't really tell what BMW wanted us to use that compartment for!

Can someone please tell me what's supposed to go on there?

Thanks

The bottom is the console part...

The top is removable. Just lift it up. It comes right out....
I suppose it can be a pen holder, or mini wrench holder ;-), when you don't have cups there

Coin tray and other miscellaneous items.

Oh...you guys are being really good today. I've read much worse (and tawdry) explanations of what that insert tray can be used for...many of them with suggested phallic & body parts in close proximity to aforementioned appendage. (LOL)

See #16 in the diagram below...the part index refers to it as an "INSERT VELOUR":

Thanks for all the anwers!
It seems that design is not for a specific object, it's more practical for me to remove it and use the cup holders when nedeed, those I can understand what they are for lol!
Thanks everyboby

Are you kidding or are you serious??
I think it's not the correct design to hold one of those...

StephenVA 02-29-2016 02:54 PM

Total joke.

NO idea of what the hell would fit that pocket. Some old technology from 2000?

I've kind of wanted one of these for some time.....

Too bad your in Spain

Qsilver7 02-29-2016 04:54 PM

Its for holding pens and such. Remember...Germany has a cultural thing for expensive pens...so the BMW German engineers designed a nice soft space to hold their Mont Blanc pens. :D

Not really in Spain but in Portugal, which is beside Spain!
If we were closer I would send you mine only for the shipping charges but if you are really in need of one I'm sure you can get one on Ebay.
If someday you discover what it's supposed to fit in there let me know.... :)
