Crankcase vaccum issue?
 

Hey all! This is my first post but i have been poking around on here for a while. A couple months ago i bought a 2001 X5 4.4i with 123k milies. Super clean and everything works. After i got I changed the timing chain tensioner, oil seperator, hoses, and ccv just because i did not know if or when they had ever been done. The last week or so i get a ticking when it gets up to temp. I went to check the oil and could hardly pull the dipstick out. It was like someone was pulling on it from inside. There was also no oil on it. I put it back in and went in the garage. I came back out a few minutes later and pulled it back out very easily and the oil level was fine. It burns no oil and has no leaks, so i have no idea what is going on. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. This is my first bmw and i really love everything about it!

That sounds like wrongly attached Oil Separator hoses or something with your new CCV(vacuum lines).There should be a bit to no vacuum on M62 engine.
I had no signs of oil being burned when I messed up Oil Separator(cyclone) hoses connection and at some point got low on oil and had guides fail.

I have double checked the hoses and everything appears to be correct. Is it. Possible for the breathers or oil drain tubes to get clogged and trap the oil up high in the engine?

CCV has a vacuum hose running on the rear facing side,the other side should be capped.There's a vacuum reservoir under the intake manifold,which has a vacuum hose connected to it.It would be a good idea to check if everything is properly connected.

My X used to have clogged oil drain and crankcase pipes and it wasn't causing any crankcase vacuum.
In your case CCV membrane is probably not closing the Intake Manifold passage (always open) ,so Intake vacuum creates a negative flow once you pull the dipstick out.
Try removing the oil fill cap and see how it affects the idle.If X starts running rough,then I would definitely check the CCV itself and the connections.
