Thanks for all your inputs, I'm looking into getting another alternator, any recommendations on places with the best prices? My X5 falling apart so Im just looking for a temporary solution before it goes to the scrap yard lol AKA I'm not looking to spend much and will be DIY'ing the repair.

Can you determine which version of the alternator is in my car with the VIN? i tried decoding it nothing shows up pertaining to the AMP. It was built in 11/01 though
