Any experience with QuickJack?
 

I'm thinking about getting one of these.

I'm currently using traditional jack stands. While sturdy, sometimes I get nervous getting the vehicle up on all fours. I've had a couple of instances that the Jack stands slip from the jackpad. Not enough to fall, but just enough to make me nervous.

Im assuming your looking at the 7k capacity one? The 5k is pushing it IMO, weighed my X no extra junk inside, quarter tank gas and me standing out of it- 4960lbs. I probably have a few pounds shaved off because of my muffler and res delete, they weigh a decent amount for what they are.

So for $1500 or so, not sure on your space and roof height if you have a garage or detached shop/space, i would go and get a normal shop lift, one can be had last time i checked for 2k or less.

I feel like it would get in the way of real work, like transmission R&R. I wouldn't want to spend all that money on a setup where I can't access under the car from the side.

It's not enough lifting height for me. I don't think you could get the tranny out from this height. About the same (20") as a floor jack. start putting wood underneath and it will get squirrelly.

One day I will get a proper two-post lift. One day...

I know I wish I could get a two post lift. My garage space is pretty tight. I received an e-mail from PelicanParts about the Quickjack and thought it looked interesting. I think this would be a good setup for general maintenance, oil changes, suspension work, etc. Safety would be better than a set of jack stands.

Doesn't the foundation need to be reinforced for the two post lift?

search garagejournal.com for this one. There are some not so good reviews, and it doesn't seem to go high enough for SUVs.

Yes, you need to dig out a hole for where the 2 post will bolt too. You will need to go with 5k psi, pretty much foot deep minimum, and depending on your frost line, rebar, and epoxy tied into existing slab. Not too hard to do, just will take some labor.

For oil changes, I just use a couple of plastic ramps. Easy up and easy down.

I needed a lift to allow for driveline servicing (Clutch and transmission R&R) on my other BMWs.
Was looking at the Dannmar MaxJax but decided to go with a low profile 2-post lift.Direct Lift Pro 9F - CEM Lifts, Inc.
For under $2,000 I could be happier with the performance of this 9,000 lb rated lift.
