Nice engine note!! Do not like the rear end though....jmo

NOC 01-24-2006 09:21 AM

It looks like it handles good on the curves.
It must have a lower suspension and stiffer shocks in order to take them at the speeds it does.
It kept the porsche back for a little while and then the porsche just passed it.
BTW what you guys think of the wheels, what size???
Good post.

powers1 01-24-2006 10:14 AM

Re the wheels, its difficult to make out their size! They seem similar to style 177 and judging by the tyrewall they are probably 19"s?
Love that V8 growl!

BMW330XI01 01-24-2006 10:40 AM

thjat engine sounds MEAN!

but im not digging the new body style.

the front grill for example looks like the took it off a ford excursion

rangerfan 01-24-2006 11:57 AM

Very cool thanks!

vinuneuro 01-24-2006 12:10 PM

Sounds fantastic! It's a lot longer! I dunno, at some angles I thought it looked good, at some it looked horrid. It'll probably look very different in person. Let's hope for the best. Thanks!

DINANM3 01-24-2006 01:34 PM

loved it good video

SyndicateGt 01-24-2006 01:47 PM

Man that Porsche smoked it  , nice ride but I hope thats just molding on the back to conceal the X5 b/c IMO its fugly. Rest of it is hot, expecially that engine roar.

I'm using Firefox, and trying to view the link. It says I'm missing a plug-in, any tips?

breytonX5 01-24-2006 02:39 PM

I'm amazed at the very little body roll exhibited by that new X5 at the turns.

X5-UK 01-24-2006 03:42 PM

Superb video...love the engine notes, but it looks a little weak in terms of style...still lacks the 'sharp edge' and 'muscular angle' to the front and rear... :-(

ChristopherM3 01-24-2006 03:51 PM

Nice video!! Thanks for posting that!! Not much body roll, I agree........sounds good too.

Best tip for FF users is to use IE.:)

I'm sitting here toggling between Dblock2151's new pix of his rims mounted on his blue X5 (an awesome ride by the way) and and a side view of the new X5 at the 'Ring. The back end of the new X5 looks awfully chunky. The rear pilar above the tail lights is thicker than the present gen X5 and it doesn't look like camouflage cladding from what I can see. The thin pillars is one of the design features that I really liked about our E53's. The new X5's may run like hell, but I'm definitely not salivating over it.

Regards, Mike

Cool!

SILENTx5 01-25-2006 08:25 AM

COOL!!! love that engine sound.

06SapphireX5 01-25-2006 11:00 AM

Don't worry about the details, that was still heavily camo'd. I doubt if a single body panel below the windows didn't have a piece of plastic covering it up, including the front and rear. The only thing you can judge from that is the overall dimensions and the look of the greenhouse. Still doesn't look big enough to hold a 3rd row imo, as has been rumored.

SyndicateGt 01-25-2006 11:17 AM

I doubt it will be anything larger than the Volvo XC-90, their 3rd row can hardly fit a small child and is not very easy to get back there. Most the 07+ X5 buyers will probably not even use their 3rd row, its a nice marketing gimic but no practicle - if you need that many seats buy the dreaded minivan.
