LCM revival

Well something is not good. I was in PA soft going over some things, didn't change much other than disable some cold monitoring - went for a drive and noticed my headlights were on - but my switch was off.

My turn signals also don't work.

Great - did I brick my LCM? Was it going bad after all my cluster brightness woes - finally died?

Scanned again with PA Soft - LCM = <not found>

shit.

So - anyway to bring it back with NCS or is ebay my best bet.

I'll unplug it first.

Perhaps you turn on DRL option in P.A. Software.

Nope - it glitched. Scary, this could be a sign it's on its way out.

I did a 30 minute capacitive discharge (read, I unplugged the LCM for a half hour)

Fired it up and all is now well. Jesus that'll pucker you. Guarantee some of you are thinking "that's what you get for f'ing with it"

Yeah, I know. Trial by fire.

I stuck my finger in a christmas tree lightbulb socket when I was 5. Now I don't do that.

No one should EVER underestimate the finickiness of BMW modules and K-BUS data network.

When you say LCM module, do you mean the knob that controls the lights.

Is it possible it is damaged? Have you ever tried a different one?

I'm talking about the Light Control Module - the "brain" that controls the majority of this lighting functions on the X. It's located in the pass. side kick panel. I've been able to access and modify settings in the module using this - BMW Scanner by P.A.Soft - BMW diagnostic software and used parts reprogramming tool

But, here's a perfect example of messing around with things without following rigid BMW guidelines may cause problems.
