Building up a Navi system
Hi all,
Just bought a navigation screen (16:9) from ebay for next to nothing and was wondering if it was possible to slowly build up a system?? I'm hoping to get the rest of the parts from ebay as cheaply as humanly possible and expect this to take quite a while. Does anyone know if it's possible to fit the screen in isolation of the computer and tv tuner?? I was hoping i could start by just fitting it and using it as a cd changer controller (like a posh radio!) Then i could gradually get the full wiring loom, then add the navi, then finally the tv. Will this work? Does anyone have any tips? Thanks in advance Hop. |
The nav retro-fit is pretty involved, you have to take a lot of the car to peices !!!!.There are a good selection of articles on the site.
You did well to get the screen cheap, they normaly go for about $700-800 these days on ebay, the latest computer is also about the same money, you will then need the other bits and bobs which add up to about another $1000. Keep us posted. :) :) |
its a tough install. if ur very car friendly then u can do it on alot of free time.
you have to modify alot of things, as the naivi x5 have a special dashboard for them. Goodluck, take lots of pics, mark everything, be patient -mike |
