Self Level Suspension Inact Persits
 

So I get the message 100% of the time now it used to only be intermittent. I have replaced both bags with Arnott comfort air springs. The compressor works fine. I tightened all of the compression fittings including the ones going to the compressor. Not sure what gives the truck sits level ride height looks normal and rides nice. I measured each side they are equal height measuring from the ground (about 32-33" to bottom plastic trim of fender I believe) or when measuring from the top of each tire (want to say about 5.5-6"). Battery has good voltage. Disconnecting battery doesn't seem to reset the code. I never had them re-calibrated as I was NOT getting the message after replacing the bags so I thought I was all good but then it started up again all of the sudden.

Wondering if it could be a bad sensor? There is one on each side right? I have the wheels off the car right now for plastidip. Is the arrow in this picture the sensor? Should I remove them and clean them or should they be replaced? Maybe the connector is corroded or something?? I hit them pretty good with the pressure washer and tried to clean by hand as best I could in hopes that I cleaned any kind of shit off there that could be interfering with the reading.

We350z, what X type do you have? Dual axle or rear axle only air suspension? That is indeed the sensor in the pic but before getting into any further diagnosis you should really scan the system with a software first and reset all errors that show up (just make note of them). There is no other way of resetting the system.

4.4is US market 2000 it has air suspension rear axle only.

How can I reset the code? I don' think its an ECU code from the main module accessible from the OBDII port? Do you need specialized equipment?

I have used the app iCarly for BMW to read/reset/program for about 2 years now...but recently I bought the INPA/DSS program that I'm currently installing on my laptop (stronger/more precise) diagnosis. INPA/DSS is the best you can get I believe but iCarly will do the job for sure.

Yes you need to read it with GT1/DIS software - the fault in the module must be cleared by using BMW software or the message will remain.

The compressor probably works fine, but based on the age of your truck, it is not pumping up within the spec of the module and probably the seal needs a rebuild with one of those kits. The compressors never actually fail, they just get worn out over time and the EHC module is looking for a specific pressure hold from the compressor, if it see less than that spec, it will throw a fault.

If you scan it and get EHC 74 Pressure Accumulator Filling Requested or something to that effect, that is the code for a weak compressor. Rebuild it with a bagpipingandy or VW Wabco repair kit, and then clear the faults in the EHC module.

Thank you for this info. Does that software require some sort of hardware? It plugs into OBD2 round or square port? I'd like to DIY if I can...

Mine plugs into the OBD2 - but I dont have a round connector so its all done with same - if someone you know has the software or if you have it the cable should have come with both connectors in order to be able to read all modules

Can I buy said cable on eBay? Is it just a USB to OBD2??

Depends on what software you're going for. I usually get the cable supplied by the app/software provider. They guarantee compatibility and price is fair imo. It is obd2-usb for laptop, obd2-usb- otg cable for Android phone (Samsung S5 in my case).
