4 holes is > 2
I've wanted to do this for so long but was held back because I would either get an outrageous quote or the shop would outright say it can't be done. (won't do it) I know I could have gotten an exhaust and bypassed the hassle but i'm plenty satisfied with the sound it has with the resonators removed so I didn't want to spend that much money.
I was finally able to convince a a tech at a shop to give it a shot because I told them I would take the rear bumper off for access. A different tech at that same shop had previously told me they won't do it (months ago) so it was a little ballsy for me to come back again but I knew if I talked to anyone but that guy they would give it a shot. They're laid back car guys so they understood my struggle :D I couldn't be happier with the end result http://i.imgur.com/ZtkEDI4.jpg?2 |
Talk about pain in the ass though. I had to remove the bumper by myself in their parking lot, which in itself is a pain because the access to the two bolts in the support is a bit*ch. But to make matters worse, on re install, I had to remove the bumper supports/shock absorbers from the inside because their was no longer the clearance needed to stick that bolt back in with the new tips because they are slightly larger overall.
I forgot to mention, they're 3.5" tips |
Sweet! Looks great... Uh we need a video clip now. A video clip of a burn out or something :)

I do have my fun once she's up and rolling though |
Looks good.
What brand of tips are they? I'm rocking Dinan, but I'm sure others would be interested to know. Nice work. |
Love the look! I'd like to do polished stainless tips on mine instead of the black chrome, but it's hard to justify the $200+ that it would cost right now given all the other stuff I got goin on (usual quarterly repairs, stereo upgrade, tires, etc.)

looks pretty sweet, sounds like a PITA tho :)

Thanks fellas, I'm very glad I went with 3.5" instead of 3"
These aren't anything fancy like dinan but they're stainless and seem to be well built Here's a link to the exact ones I have, except the shop that installed them ordered them locally Different Trend Inc,. www.dtexhaust.com Part of the reason these worked well is because they have a smaller 2.25" inlet, even in the 3.5" size. And also the overall length was basically just right without needing to grind or cut a bunch off All 4 we're $200 installed |
Looks almost exactly like my setup.. Except mine have a slight angle cutoff at the end of the tip versus yours being even (top/bottom) at the end. Looks like single tips too because i believe stock mufflers have 2 small pipe coming out into the stock rectangle tip.
Mine are 3.5" as well, except since i have muffler deletes and only one large pipe coming back to the bumper, my tips are a Y pipe design single into 2 split. |
