Thinking about installing Mac mini in car. Thoughts?
Hey How's it going people. I was thinking about putting a mac mini in my car rather then maybe a DVD player and an Ipod. Any thoughts? Or experiences?

(original post below is irrelavent now...) Ordered the Dension Icelink Plus adapter for our X, my wife has a mini andI have the 20GB 3rd gen (both use the same adapter). I also ordered the ashtray replacement and did the light mod (thanks to SuperGreg I think) on it. Haven't received the adapter yet, but the mini will fit nicely in the pocket where the ashtray goes. Once I get it installed, I will give a full report with photos. -Jeff |
To be honest, I am not really sure how. Haven't really decided. I usually let my buddy Andrew deal with it since he does all the complicated installs.
It's good to have one of the nation's top installers as a buddy.:D Quote:

Check out MP3car.com. It will show you several setups people have tried in different vehicles. I currently have a mini-itx board installed with a VGA 7" touchscreen to control everything. If you have a NAV screen the output won't look good from the Mac Mini. I would recommend a VGA screen to avoid fuzzy text. PM me if you have any questions.

I have a mini-itx in my M3 but I haven't gone down that path in my X5. I think the Mac mini may be a little too warm for a car pc.

Thanks for the info and reply. Didn't think about the fact that the words might be fuzzy with the oem screens...

Anyone know the resolution of the BMW NAV screen?
