Angel eye halo bulb
Is there just one bulb for both angel eye rings on headlight and high beam or 2 separate?
"Check sidelights" sign has come on and I see both rings(HL and HB on the driver's side) aren't illuminating. |
Just one bulb.

Is there any write up on installing both sides? One looks easy to get to and the other looks like a PITA.

It's not that bad. Doesn't take too much. This is a pretty good write up.

Just replaced driver's side angel eye bulb on my 2005 4.4. Installation is little bit tricky on 4.4 since you need to move away expansion tank and power steering reservoir, but not too bad. At least you don't have to disconnect any hoses. Got replacement bulb on Amazon - $9 a pair much better than over $20 for OEM. Please remember when opting for bulb only replacement - old bulb need little help to get out from it's fixture and than you will need to notch fixture reflector slightly to let new bulb in. Entire job took about 20 minutes from start to finish including fishing for access oppening cover that fell into the wheel well:).

If you have a V8...there's only a few bolts that hold the bracket that contains both the coolant reservoir and power steering reservoir. You undo those bolts then move both reservoirs out of the way (still attached to their securing bracket). Again, if you have the V8...this will allow easy access to the driver's side AE compartment and bulb. :) Help us out...create a sig that includes your model & model year. I'm sure there have been forum members that have done searches...and you've wrote something of value...but the info isn't conclusive if its based only on I6 or V8 data...or some change in the production run from 2000-2006. Sometimes its the simple identification of model/model year that makes a big difference in how to reply...or apply what's been asked or answered in a thread. :) |

I used needle-nose pliers to remove old bulb out from the fixture – all you need to do is slightly squash the metal bulb base and it will pass the reflector. Then, use small file or dremel tool to make two small ~1/16” notches on the reflector base (red dots on the image) to allow for new bulb to pass.
